TAMIYA 1/35 35152 U.S. M2A2 BRADLEY INFANTRY FIGHTING VEHICLE

SKU: 35152

The U.S. Army M2/M3 Bradley Fighting Vehicles were originally developed during the 70s, to meet a U.S. Army requirement for an agile armored personnel vehicle that could keep pace with the M1 Abrams tank.

The F.M.C. Corporation, located in California, U.S.A., produced the M2/3 Bradley series, and met or exceeded the Army's demand for mobility, firepower and crew protection. With continuing changes being made in weapons technology, upgrading of existing systems is an on going process. Aimed mainly at enhancing the crew's "Survivability", the M2A2 improvements were primarily accomplished by adding external plates to the front and sides of the vehicle. Reactive armor slabs are then added to these plates.

In the field. Kevlar liners (called "spall liners") were applied to the inside of the crew compartment for additional protection. To handle the increased weight and still maintain its excellent mobility, the Cummins 500 horse power turbocharged diesel engine was tuned to 600 HP, and the transmission was regreared and strengthened. The vehicle weapons remain the same, except for an improved version of the TOW-2 missile launcher.
