Launched in April of 1922, the 5,500-ton displacement IJN Light Cruiser Nagara saw action during the invasion of the Philippines and Dutch East Indies, the Battle of Midway, and the Battle of the Solomon Islands. After participating in the evacuation of Guadalcanal, the Nagara mets its fate at the stern-launched torpedoes of the US sub Croaker, sinking in August of 1944.
